ECAPS Showcases Sweden’s Propulsion Leadership at Nordic Space Day in Osaka

Osaka, Japan – September 2025

As space becomes an increasingly strategic realm of mobility, global partnerships must be prioritized. That is why this week, ECAPS participated in a delegation of Swedish industry to Japan, contributing to international dialogue and demonstrating Sweden’s leading role in propulsion technology.

ECAPS Participates in International Dialogue

At the Nordic Space Day in Osaka, an event bringing together Swedish and Japanese leaders to strengthen cooperation in space and defense, Odysseas Chrisotfi, CEO of ECAPS, joined a panel discussion on “Building Commercial Partnerships in Space”. He was joined by esteemed colleagues from SSC, Astroscale, and Kongsberg Satellite Services (KSAT).

The panel focused on unlocking opportunities for cross-border collaboration and commercial partnerships in the evolving space economy. As the panelists emphasized, infrastructure, launch services, on-orbit technologies, and effective propulsion are all strengthened through international partnerships and localization, ensuring capabilities can be adapted to support both civil and defense applications in Japan and beyond.

In this discussion, ECAPS highlighted Sweden’s propulsion leadership, with its systems already deployed on important international missions that support both defense and space applications.

ECAPS Engages with Government and Industry Leaders

The agenda brought together leaders from government and industry, including accomplished decision-makers for Sweden’s space interests including Dr. Ella Carlsson, Director General at the Swedish National Space Agency (SNSA), Sweden’s astronaut Marcus Wandt, now Chief Innovation Officer at Saab, Dr. Olle Norberg, Director General of the Swedish Institute of Space Physics (IRF), Christian Hånberg, Head of Industrial Policy and Telecommunications at SNSA, as well as an array of prominent representatives from the European Space Agency (ESA), Andøya Spaceport, Beyond Gravity, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, KSAT, and more.

Ultimately, the discussions facilitated in Osaka addressed themes ranging from advancing industrial innovation to succeeding in lunar exploration, and contributed to emboldening cross-border partnership between Sweden and Japan.

ECAPS thanks Business Sweden and the SNSA for their support in making Nordic Space Day possible, and for advancing Swedish–Japanese dialogue in space and defense.
